Poll: Floridians back Trump over Biden by 9% margin, strongly disapprove of incumbent

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A recent poll released by the Florida Chamber of Commerce found that former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in Florida by 9% ahead of the 2024 election.

Trump leads Biden in the poll 51% to 42%. The poll also found that the former president’s lead remains unchanged even when independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s support was factored in.

The third party candidate evenly took from both major contenders, resulting in a 46%-37% outcome with Trump on top.

Additionally, it found that Trump has stronger support amongst his own party compared to the president. 89% of Florida Republicans expressed their support for Trump, while only 79% of Democrats were committed to Biden.

The former president’s support amongst Hispanic voters was also noted in the poll, with 58% of the demographic backing Trump and 31% backing Biden.

Finally, the poll shows that the majority of Floridians have a favorable view on Trump at 53%, while a larger number, 63%, disapprove of Biden.

Hispanics also notably saw a strong opposition to the current president, with 76% of the demographic expressing their disapproval. 59% favorably view Trump’s work in his presidential administration.

The poll, released Friday, was conducted April 28 to May 7 by Cherry Communications among 609 likely voters. The partisan breakdown is 36.6% Democratic, 42% Republican and 21.3% “Others.”

The latest RealClearPolling average shows Trump up by the same 9 point margin as the chamber’s poll found. One Emerson poll has the former president leading by as much as 13 points.
