WASHINGTON (FLV) – U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is facing high-profile Democrat Val Demings, who officially filed to run for U.S. Senate against Rubio in November’s election.

Both Demings and Rubio face a multitude of low profile candidates in their respective party’s primaries, but both are expected to be on the general election ballot in 5 months.

Polling has tracked the Senate race since August, and not one poll aggregated by 270 to Win has put Rubio behind Demings.

Last August, Rubio was shown to have a 2% lead among 2,068 registered voters (St. Pete Polls). A poll from the same organization last November gave Rubio an increased lead of 7%, indicating a positive swing of support in Rubio’s favor.

A poll conducted by Public Policy on June 1st among 655 likely voters gave Rubio a 6% lead, 47%-41%, with 12% undecided or choosing another candidate.

Demings is seen on social media purporting mainstream leftist ideas like abortion, which she calls, “protecting women’s access to healthcare,” saying, “they [Republicans] want to punish women.” She is an avid supporter of Roe v. Wade.

Demings blames price hikes under President Joe Biden a result of “price gouging” rather than supply chain issues and inflation caused by faulty federal and lockdown policies.

She also blamed high gas prices on price gouging:

Rubio, on the other hand, has been focusing on cultural issues like the emergence of sexual drag shows for children. He blames gas prices on Joe Biden and “the democrats”:

Rubio is pro life and has made the endorsement of law enforcement a large part of his campaign.

OFFICIAL: Nearly 135,000 More Republican Registrations Compared to Democrats

With the November midterms quickly approaching, Republicans are expected to sweep the Sunshine State with Donald Trump expanding his win margin to over 3 points in 2020 and party registration leads from Republicans nearing 150,000.
