Predators ‘wouldn’t have to go far’ if prison built near Disney World, former DeSantis spox says

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (FLV) – Amid the uproar from a seemingly tongue-in-cheek remark from Gov. Ron DeSantis involving the potential construction of a state prison near Walt Disney World property, former spokeswoman Christina Pushaw joked sexual predators “wouldn’t have to go far” after their conviction.

“I think Governor DeSantis’ comment about building a new jail next to Disney World was tongue in cheek, but if it were ever built, the human traffickers and predators in the vicinity wouldn’t have far to go after being convicted,” she said.

Pushaw was formerly DeSantis’ press secretary and later his reelection campaign rapid response director.

“You mean all of the Disney employees?” one user replied to Pushaw.

“Not ALL of them. But, if @PolkCoSheriff past sing operations indicate a pattern, definitely some of them,” she said.

Pushaw’s comments are in reference to past remarks from Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd when he announced a child predator sting operation in June 2022.

“Well listen, ladies and gentlemen. What would an operation be, either a pornography investigation or a predator operation or human trafficking operation, without a Disney employee,” Judd said. “We always have a Disney employee.”

In the operation, 12 were arrested.

Later that year, another Disney employee was arrested in a sex sting operation.

DeSantis joked about a state prison being built near Disney World at a Lake Buena Vista press conference Monday where he said legislation would be filed revoking last-minute, far-reaching agreements that gave Disney considerable influencer over former Reedy Creek.
