WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Pro-former President Donald Trump super PAC Make America Great Again, Inc. launched an attack ad in anticipation of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2024 campaign launch, which will occur Wednesday evening on Twitter.

The ad lambasts the Florida governor for having “fought against President Donald Trump’s America First agenda while in Washington” during his time in Congress.

DeSantis was a Florida congressman from 2013 to 2018.

“2016: President Trump defeats the liberals and heads to Washington to drain the swamp. But swamp creature, Ron DeSantis, is about to start his third term in Congress, and he’s already voted repeatedly to cut Social Security and Medicare,” the ad said.

“2017: Trump passes huge tax cuts for nearly everyone. And Ron DeSantis, he’s pushing a bill that would swap those tax cuts for a new 23% national sales tax making families paid more,” it continued.

DeSantis voted in favor of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, passed in 2017.

“2018: Trump is building a wall securing the border fighting the invasion while Ron DeSantis is voting against funding for Trump’s wall,” it said.

DeSantis supported the border wall, and recently offered to help construct one, but voted against a bill that included wall funding because it also included temporary amnesty for DACA recipients.

In addition to that vote, as argued by Trump-supporting consultant Alex Bruesewitz, DeSantis voted against a massive $1.3 trillion 2018 appropriations bill that included funding for some of Trump’s border wall.

The ad then pivoted to leaked footage from DeSantis’ 2018 gubernatorial debate preparation, where he said there is “obviously” differences between him and the former president.

“I voted contrary to him in the Congress,” DeSantis is heard saying.

Super PACs operate independently from a given candidate.

DeSantis-supporting super PAC Never Back Down has been operating for months, also releasing an ad Wednesday ahead of the governor’s announcement.
