CLERMONT, Fla. – U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster, R-Fla., shared a statement from his close ally and fellow conservative advocate, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., regarding Webster’s impending campaign for Florida’s 11th Congressional District seat.

“Daniel Webster is a stalwart friend and ally. He puts principle above personal ambition, and that is rare in Washington,” Massie said. “Rep. Webster is a proven defender of freedom and liberty. I need him fighting alongside me now more than ever.”

Webster said he is grateful for the support from Massie.

“Throughout my time in Congress, Thomas Massie has displayed courage in our fights to reform Washington and cut wasteful government spending,” Webster said. “Basic liberty and freedoms are under attack by the radical left, and it is my honor to defend the Constitution with fellow conservative fighters like Congressman Massie!”

Webster has played a significant role in shaping Republican achievements in Florida. Serving as the first Republican speaker of the Florida House in over a century, Webster broke the longstanding Democratic dominance, paving the way for a surge of conservative governance.

Webster outraised his opponent, former Republican state Rep. Anthony Sabatini, during the first quarter of 2024.

Webster raised over $117,000 in the first quarter and currently has almost $599,000 cash on hand, according to FEC records.

Sabatini raised just over $17,000 in the first quarter and currently has over $127,000 cash on hand, according to documents.

Records show Sabatini loaned himself $20,000 during the first quarter, which totals $30,000 in loans to his own campaign. Webster has no loans reported.

In 2022, Webster beat Democrat Shante Munns and no party affiliation Kevin Porter in the general election. Webster had 63.1% of the vote, while Munns had 35.4% and Porter had 1.5%.

Republican John McCloy, Democrat Barbara Harden Hall, and Libertarian Ralph Groves are also running for Florida’s 11th Congressional District seat. The primary election will be held Aug. 20.
