GOP flips Delray Beach mayor seat during Palm Beach County elections

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Local elections across Palm Beach County took place Tuesday night alongside the presidential primary. The races are technically nonpartisan.

Delray Beach

The mayor’s seat in Delray Beach was up for grabs. The Republican in the race was Tom Carney, versus Democrats Shirley Johnson and Ryan Boylston. Carney ultimately won the position. Boylston came in second and Johnson came in third.

For Commissioner Seat 3, the race was between Republican Anneze Barthelemy, and Democrats Juli Casale and Nick Coppola. Casale ultimately won.

No Republican was in the running for Seat 1, while two Democrats and one non-party affiliated candidate were in the race. Tom Markert, the NPA, won the seat with just over 1% more than the second place finisher, a Democrat.

Boca Raton

Boca Raton City Council Seat C and D were up for grabs, but only Seat D involved a competition between a Republican and Democratic candidate.

For Seat D, the election was between Andy Thomson, a Democrat, and Brian Stenberg, a Republican. Thomson won.
