Steve Hazelton, who worked with the Lincoln Project, runs SRH.
The Lincoln Project was launched by anti-Trump ‘Republicans’ to raise money and release advertisements and media critical of Former President Donald Trump and his allies.
Republicans are concerned that the Lincoln Project is getting involved in Gaetz’s primary.
“Everything about Mark Lombardo reeks of the Lincoln Project,” X Strategies CEO Alex Bruesewitz told Florida’s Voice. “The Lincoln Project and Lombardo both work with Steve Hazelton to buy their TV commercials. They can at least try to not make it obvious,” he continued.
Lombardo released a campaign ad saying Gaetz “hired pedophile Jeffrey Epstein‘s attorney to defend himself against sex trafficking.” Because of that, Lombardo says, “I knew he could no longer get the job done.”
“Send me to Washington, I’ll be a conservative fighter, a Marine who puts you and America first.”
Bruesewitz blasted the ad as “ironic”: “And if the Lincoln project is in fact behind this, it’s awfully ironic that an organization who’s founders are plagued by sexual abuse allegations release an ad like this. Glass houses!”
Last year, Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt resigned after accusations surfaced of harassment. The other co-founder, John Weaver, was accused of sending “unsolicited and sexually provocative messages online to young men.”
Weaver told Axios, “to the men I made uncomfortable through my messages that I viewed as consensual mutual conversations at the time: I am truly sorry.”
Gaetz currently represents Florida’s 1st congressional district and the primaries in Florida are set to be held on August 23rd.
