WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Sen. Rick Scott, R-FL, reiterated his support for Israel and denounced antisemitism in a new video.

“I am disgusted by this antisemitism and anti Israel attitude that we’re seeing in Florida, across the country, and across the world,” he said. “We have got to call out anybody as antisemitic or anti-Israel. I will do everything in my power as U.S. Senator to continue to condemn antisemitism and to support or great ally Israel.”

In a tweet, Scott slammed “heinous intolerance” against Jewish people and said America must “ALWAYS stand with our great ally Israel.”

Scott’s remarks come off the heels of his announcement that he will be seeking another term as a Florida senator in D.C.

“Well, as you, as you know, we’ve had a significant increase since my last election in the number of registered republicans in the state. But I’m gonna work hard to make sure we get all the votes out,” Scott said.

“I’ve been able to win twice as governor and and once as a Senator. And so I’m gonna work hard every day to make sure I win.”

The denunciation of antisemitism came after Florida lawmakers pushed legislation to crack down on antisemitic “hate crimes.”

Republican state Rep. Mike Caruso filed the bill with co-sponsors: Republican state Reps. Randy Fine, Peggy Gossett-Seidman, and Democrat state Reps. David Silvers, Allison Tant and Michael Gottlieb.

“Antisemitic attacks have exploded in Florida. Over the last year, they went from rare to monthly to weekly to daily, and we’ve got to do something about it. And this is our plan,” Fine told Florida’s Voice.

Caruso said the bill will make the following third-degree felonies: any person distributing flyers involving materials that have religious or ethnic animus and are mass distributed, any person stalking or harassing or interfering with someone based on religious or ethnic heritages; willfully damaging a religious cemetery, a memorial, religious school or community/public/private property with a religious or ethnic animus; projecting an image of a religious or ethnic animus without written permission of a property owner, and any person who willfully interrupts or disrupts any religious school or service with a pretense of ethnic or religious animus.
