LOS ANGELES (FLV) – Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., sounded off on the Los Angeles Dodgers for issuing a statement apologizing to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an LGBTQ advocacy group composed “of queer and trans nuns,” and for reinviting the group to the stadium in June.

Initially, the Dodgers announced that the team removed the non-profit group, which is reportedly “famous for its satirical representation of Catholicism.”

They are now scheduled to appear at a June 16 Pride Night event.

“After much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities […] the Los Angeles Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their families and friends,” the team said in a statement.

“We have asked our Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to take their place on the filed at our 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night on June 16th,” they said. “We are pleased to share that they have agreed to receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.”

Rubio responded, “Shamefully (but not surprisingly) the @dodgers have been bullied into apologizing to & ‘re-inviting’ a group of anti-catholic bigots.”

“Today our great country is controlled by socio-political ruling elites who don’t just tolerate anti-Christian bigotry, they encourage & celebrate it,” he said.

The organization condemned last week the team’s initial withdraw of the group, saying the team “capitulated in response to hateful and misleading information.”
