TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton, R-Bartow, Thursday donated $100,000 to the Republican Party of Florida.

Albritton’s donation comes less than a day after Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson donated the same amount to the party.

In an announcement, the party boasted of the “influx of resources and support” heading into the 2024 election year.

“We cannot afford to take any election for granted,” Albritton said. “Electing strong conservative leaders at every level of government requires hard work and a dedicated team to drive registration, get out the vote and secure the victory.”

“I am proud to support the party and Chairman Evan Power, and I look forward to working with the team to activate a winning strategy,” he said.

Power became chairman on Jan. 8 after the party ousted former Chairman Christian Ziegler amidst a sexual assault investigation. Power was previously the vice chairman.

“Actions speak louder than words. Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton’s commitment and support of the Republican Party of Florida is significant,” Power said. “We Republicans are all partners in Florida’s great success. Our increasing voter registration advantage over Florida Democrats shows growing public support for our common-sense, conservative policies.”

Looking ahead, Power said Republicans must “work hard” to keep 57 of the state’s 67 counties “red.”

“I am deeply grateful to our Senate President-Designate Albritton’s support and confidence in our leadership to continue to deliver for Floridians,” he said.

Albritton is set to become the Senate president for the 2024-2026 legislative term. The current president is Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples.

He served in the House of Representatives from 2010-2018 and was later elected to the Senate in 2018. A priority of Albritton’s has included protecting Florida’s natural resource and supporting the agriculture industry.

Most recently, Albritton has been touting relief for farmers in the wake of Hurricane Idalia and promoting relief for the citrus industry.

As of Jan. 18, state Republicans lead state Democrats by around 700,000 voters, according to data last updated Dec. 13, 2023.

Republicans took a supermajority in both chambers of the Florida Legislature in 2022, with Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and Simpson winning their races by around 20 points.

“Florida is a red state because we have put in the work consistently to ensure conservative leaders who deliver results are supported,” Simpson said Wednesday. “With Evan’s leadership, I am confident the RPOF and the hardworking grassroots army will execute the fundamentals necessary to win in November, and I am eager to ensure they have the resources they need.”
