DESOTO COUNTY (FLV) – The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said hurricane recovery operations continued when Gov. Ron DeSantis visited Sunday, despite the Florida Democrat Party claiming that aid was “blocked” from being delivered.

An ABC report said good samaritans’ “relief efforts were put on hold as Governor Ron DeSantis toured the area, frustrating people ferrying supplies back and forth.”

“Much needed aid was blocked from being delivered so that Governor DeSantis could preen and pose for photos in campaign attire,” Florida Democratic Party Spokesperson Kobe Christian said in a released statement. “Even in the wake of a devastating loss of lives, historic property damage, and flooding, the best interests of Floridians take a back seat to Ron DeSantis’ national profile.”

The DeSantis campaign clapped back at that narrative and pointed to the sheriff’s office Facebook post that said operations “stayed rolling” while the governor visited.

“While they discussed plans moving forward, operations have stayed rolling the entire time. Citizens have received ice and various resources within the city, and supply operations on the river have been non-stop,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

The governor also told the Floridian that rescue operations do not stop while he is on the ground.

“Everything goes. Don’t stop anything we want to do,” DeSantis said.
