MIAMI – Former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis met Sunday in Miami as Trump kicks up his 2024 operation and Republicans look to defeat President Joe Biden this November.

Florida’s Voice independently confirmed that the meeting took place, as reported by the Washington Post.

The Post added that Trump and DeSantis spoke for “several hours,” and that the Florida governor had agreed to “help” the former president.

“The meeting was friendly,” the Post reported.

DeSantis posted strong fundraising numbers during his 2024 presidential campaign, which ended after his second place finish in the Iowa caucus in January with an endorsement of Trump.

The governor also gained a massive war chest of over $100 million from his 2022 gubernatorial reelection bid.

Earlier in April, DeSantis said at a private donor event that he planned to help Trump fundraise.

Democrats and Biden’s campaign have been posting strong dollar amounts as the 2024 election cycle continues.

Senior advisor to Trump’s 2024 campaign Brian Hughes told Florida’s Voice earlier this month that the campaign welcomes such support.

“We welcome all Republican leaders joining the effort to work with President Trump’s campaign and the RNC to win the White House, majorities for the US House and Senate, and Republicans all the way down the ballot,” Hughes said.

As campaign season has kicked up, national polls have narrowed in Biden’s favor, while Trump maintains leads in swing state polling, according to RealClearPolling’s aggregates.
