Trump dismisses cognitive concerns, says he purposefully calls Biden ‘Obama’
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump dismissed concerns he is suffering from cognitive decline after the DeSantis campaign pointed to multiple instances of Trump calling President Joe Biden “Obama.”
The habit from Trump comes from the belief that former President Barack Obama, in office from 2009 to 2017, is controlling aspects of the Biden administration.
“Whenever I sarcastically insert the name Obama for Biden as an indication that others may actually be having a very big influence in running our Country, Ron DeSanctimonious and his failing campaign apparatus, together with the Democrat’s Radical Left ‘Disinformation Machine,’ go wild saying that ‘Trump doesn’t know the name of our President, (CROOKED!) Joe Biden. He must be cognitively impaired,'” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“No, I know both names very well, never mix them up, and know that they are destroying our Country,” he said.
The DeSantis War Room, the rapid response wing of the DeSantis campaign on X, has been posting clips of Trump placing Obama’s name when referencing Biden.
“Trump has been having serious trouble with names lately,” the campaign said. “On a number of occasions, he’s confused Obama and Biden.”
In a video, Trump mentions Biden, Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“[Democrats] have weaponized law enforcement […] to arrest their leading political opponent, and leading by a lot, including Obama – I’ll tell you what, you take a look at Obama […] this is the same thing. The country is very divided,” he said.
In another clip posted by the DeSantis War Room, the former president mentions the “Obama administration” multiple times when discussing current political events, which Trump most recently said is on purpose.
“Also, and as reported, I just took a cognitive test as part of my Physical Exam, and ACED it,” Trump said.
Trump’s comments on his cognitive abilities come after his physician penned a letter detailing “exceptional” cognitive test results and overall good health.
“Biden should take one so we can determine why he wants Open Borders, No Energy Independence, A Woke Military, High Inflation, No Voter I.D., Men playing In Women’s Sports, Only Electric Cars & Trucks, A Weaponized DOJ/FBI, and so many other CRAZY things!!!” Trump said.
Trump is 77 years old, and will turn 78 on June 14, 2024. Biden just turned 81.
Both men are poised to face off in a rematch in November 2024 for the presidential election. As it stands, Trump leads Biden by over 2%, according to RealClearPolitics.
