WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump launched a hail of attacks directed at Gov. Ron DeSantis Friday morning as rumors continue to swirl regarding an impending DeSantis presidential run.

Trump criticized the Florida governor over his state’s “very average” handling of the coronavirus pandemic and pointed to former Democrat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s handling of the situation.

“How about the fact that he had the third most deaths of any State, as Governor, on the China Virus. Even Cuomo did better,” Trump said on TRUTH Social.

Cuomo reportedly oversaw his state’s health agency “misle[a]d the public” on nursing home deaths.

Trump also alleged that the Florida governor’s feud with corporate giant, Disney, is simply to “show what a tough guy he is.”

“Look at the Disney MESS, could have worked an easy settlement, but no, he wanted the Fake News to show what a tough guy he is. He’s not,” Trump said.

Trump’s comments on Disney come after the company canceled a $1 billion campus originally set for the Orlando area.

DeSantis’ office responded to Disney, saying the “possibility” of the project was brought up two years ago and “nothing ever came” of it.

“The state was unsure whether it would come to fruition,” they said.

“Given the company’s financial straits, falling market cap, and declining stock price, it is unsurprising that they would restructure their business operations and cancel unsuccessful ventures.”

The attacks on DeSantis come as the Florida governor appears to be preparing a 2024 challenge to Trump for the White House.

DeSantis reportedly cast doubt on Trump’s 2024 prospects during a phone call with a supportive super PAC this week.

The governor also reportedly said that “corporate media wants Trump to be the nominee” for the Republican Party in 2024.
