WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump reignited an effort to replace the Affordable Care Act, or “Obamacare,” with an alternative system.

The famous “repeal and replace” efforts from Republicans failed in mid-2017, Trump’s first year in office, with former U.S. Sen. John McCain’s famous “thumbs down.”

In a Truth Social post over the weekend, the former president said that Obamacare’s cost is “out of control.”

“Plus, it’s not good Healthcare,” Trump said. “I’m seriously looking at alternatives.”

“We had a couple of Republican Senators who campaigned for 6 years against it, and then raised their hands not to terminate it,” he said. “It was a low point for the Republican Party, but we should never give up!”

President Joe Biden’s campaign rapid response director, Ammar Moussa, highlighted Trump’s statements on X, formerly Twitter, an indication the Biden campaign intends to weaponize it against Trump.

“Donald Trump is right back to talking about repealing the Affordable Care Act,” Moussa said.

Biden also commented on Trump’s vows, as reported by the New York Times, saying “they just don’t give up.”

“My predecessor once again called for cuts that could rip away health insurance for tens of millions of Americans,” Biden said.

Trump campaigned on a “repeal and replace” of Obamacare, making it a frequently used slogan throughout his platform.
