BEDMINSTER, N.J. – Former President Donald Trump outlined “ten principles” he promises to push in a second term as president, and said the ultimate goal is to make American students “more successful than Trump.”

He said “very early” during his administration, should he take office in January 2025, he will “close up” the Department of Education, delegating more control to the states.

“We want them to run the education of our children, because they’ll do a much better job of it. You can’t do worse,” he said.

“[American students] are going to be very, very successful,” Trump said. “I want them to be more successful than Trump. Let them go out and be more successful.”

Some principles he plans to promote include “knowledge and skills” over “CRT and gender indoctrination,” “love” of the U.S., religious freedom, school safety and universal school choice.

“President Trump supports universal school choice so that parents can send their children to the public, private, or religious school that best suits their needs, their goals, and their values,” Trump’s campaign said.

Trump also pointed to training-centered “project-based learning” to ensure students receive “real-world experience,” along with internships.

The campaign said he will bolster funding preferences for schools working to promote internships, and part-time and summer jobs.

The former president said finally, he’ll increase funding preferences for schools that employ job and career counselors to help students obtain a job “best suited to [their] God-given talents.”

“This is how we will ensure a great education for every American child,” Trump said.
