Uber will cover the cost up to $35 each way, similar to what the company has done with previous storms such as Hurricane Ian.

The free rides are for designated shelter locations in Hernando, Hillsborough, Leon Manatee, Pinellas Alachua, Citrus, Collier, Dixie, Lake, Marion, Nassau, Orange, Pasco, Polk, Sarasota, Sumter, Union and Volusia counties.

The list of shelters are located here.

Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida officials have urged people to remain “vigilant” for any changes in the forecasted track. Hurricane Idalia is expected to first land in the state in the Big Bend area.
