Uber Giving Free Round-Trip Rides to Southwest Florida Shelter Locations

TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Uber announced it will offer up free round-trip rides to and from a state-approved evacuation shelter.

The offer is valid for up to two trips per rider and provides up to $30 each way. Here are details on how to redeem a free round trip:

  • Open your app
  • Tap “Account” on the bottom right
  • Tap Wallet
  • Scroll down to “+ Add Promo Code”
  • Enter code IANRELIEF
  • Select any of the Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Pasco, Lee, Charlotte and Sarasota County state-approved Florida evacuation shelters listed at floridadisaster.org/planprepare/shelters

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, evacuation orders had been issued in Sarasota, Charlotte, Levy, Lee, Manatee, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. 

Both Pinellas and Hillsborough counties on Monday announced mandatory evacuation orders for certain parts of the county. Pinellas County announced mandatory evacuation orders for all residents in Evacuation Zone A, including all mobile home residents, beginning at 6 p.m. Monday.

All residential healthcare facilities are under mandatory evacuation orders beginning Monday. Mandatory orders for evacuation zones B and C will be effective Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.

In Hillsborough County, a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for Zone Level A, and voluntary evacuation order for Zone Level B has been issued, including all low-lying areas, mobile and manufactured homes starting at 2 p.m. Monday.
