MIAMI – The National Hurricane Center has marked a tropical disturbance off the coast of western Africa that has a very high chance of forming within a week.

As of Friday at 2 p.m. ET, the disturbance is marked with a 90% chance of forming within seven days and 70% of forming by the end of the weekend.

The center has forecasted the system to curve further north, rather than continue straight west into the Caribbean.

Both the American and European weather models suggest the storm will strengthen and make a sharp turn north before reaching the Caribbean and the east coast of the U.S.
