JACKSONVILLE (FLV) – Republican U.S. Rep. John Rutherford, FL- 04, has endorsed Senate President Wilton Simpson for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture.

“While Joe Biden continues to fail the American people, Floridians need an Agriculture Commissioner who rejects his policies, and fully understands how our food supply chain works to provide safe and abundant food to our communities,” Rutherford said.

“Farmers like Wilton Simpson are working overtime to fill the gaps created by this crisis, because that is what they do.”

Simpson owns an egg-laying operation that supplies eggs to supermarkets across Florida. He has played a large role in passing monumental conservative legislation including the Parental Rights in Education Act, the Stop WOKE Act, and the 15-week abortion ban.

“When Florida’s law enforcement community was under attack, Wilton Simpson put a stop to defunding the police because he understands the role they play in protecting our families, our businesses and our communities,” Rutherford added.

President Donald Trump, Governor Ron DeSantis, 58 Florida Sheriffs, The NRA, Florida Farm Bureau FarmPAC, The Florida Police Benevolent Association, Florida Forestry Association, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Americans for Tax Reform, and Florida Family Action are just some of the endorsements Simpson has received.

“John Rutherford understands the challenges we are facing here at home because of Joe Biden’s economic ignorance,” Simpson said. “John is fighting for our shared conservative values, working against the socialist agenda in Washington, and I am honored to have his support.”

Simpson will face two other Republicans in the August 23, 2022 primary including James Shaw and Richard Earl Olle Jr.. If Simpson wins the Agriculture Commissioner seat, he will replace Nikki Fried who is vying for the Democrat nominee as the next Florida governor.
