TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott is leading his Democratic challenger, former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, by around 7%, according to a new poll from Emerson College.

The poll of 1,000 registered voters from April 9-10 found Scott clocking in at 45% support to Mucarsel-Powell’s 38%.

Mucarsel-Powell’s 38% is the same level of support as President Joe Biden’s vote share under the same poll.

Scott is running behind former President Donald Trump in the poll, which found the presumptive GOP nominee at 51%, without leaners.

Emerson reported that in Florida’s 2024 Senate race, a whopping 17% remain undecided. Much of those, though, are Trump voters, in the same poll – and thus are likely less apt to vote for Mucarsel-Powell come November.

Among state voters, 27% said the most important issue for them is the economy, housing affordability with 16%, immigration at 14% and abortion access at 10%.

The same poll also found a rocky path to approval for the abortion ballot initiative and suggested a large Trump victory over Biden in Florida.

In his reelection campaign, Scott has the endorsement of Trump, and has been running new ads as part of a multi-million dollar ad campaign targeting Hispanics.
