JUPITER (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis touted the massive influx of Republican registered voters as their numbers continue to surge above Democrat registrations in Florida.

There are 267,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats, DeSantis said while praising his “Keep Florida Free” motto.

“We’ve really been, I think, a place where sanity prevailed when the world went mad,” DeSantis said.

The governor proceeded to attack President Joe Biden’s lockdown policies at the Tuesday campaign event.

“We’re not gonna let Biden’s policies be imposed on the state of Florida,” he exclaimed. “We’re going to make sure that we keep the state free and keep the state thriving.”

But the governor cautioned his supporters not to become complacent as he said Floridians beam with pride.

“Florida’s getting it right,” he said. “but don’t take any of that for granted. That can all change very, very quickly.”

The tide of party registrations has rapidly changed, with Democrats having 257,000 more registered voters than Republicans in 2018. Republicans have made extraordinary gains in registrations since DeSantis took office.
