MIAMI-DADE (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump campaigned at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds to support Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, among other candidates on Sunday.

At the beginning of his speech, the former President said Floridians need to vote for Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Ron DeSantis, who are both running for re-election in Florida’s 2022 midterm election on Nov. 8.

“If you want to stop the destruction of our country and save the American dream […] then this Tuesday you must go out and vote Republican in this giant red wave,” Trump said.

Trump spoke on many hot topics including the border crisis, crime, inflation, and parental rights.

Rubio was called up on stage by Trump and thanked him for coming to Miami-Dade, saying the community will fight to save the country on Tuesday.

Trump bashed Rubio’s opponent, Democrat candidate Val Demings, and said she voted for “every single one of Joe Biden’s inflation-causing spending bills.”

“She voted no on the border wall. Can you imagine? […] Demings praised left wing riots.. as a beautiful sight – she said ‘oh what a beautiful sight,'” Trump said, referring to her remarks in 2017.

Trump also gave shout outs to Florida Congressional Candidates on the November ballot including Anna Paulina Luna (CD-13) and Cory Mills (CD-7).

“They both have my complete and total endorsement!” Trump said.

Luna and Mills both said a few words ahead of Trump’s speech at the rally.

Trump recognized Sen. Wilton Simpson, the Republican Nominee for Agriculture Commissioner of Florida.

Trump offered an apology to U.S. Rep Matt Gaetz, following a long-running sex-trafficking investigation.

“We apologize to you on behalf of the country – all of us do. What you went through was just terrible and so unnecessary.”

Gaetz previously said he was a victim of “extortion” by an ex-Justice Department official seeking a $25 million payoff.

Looking towards 2024, Trump said, “I ran twice, I won twice, and I did much better the second time than I did the first […] And now, in order to make our country successful, safe, and glorious, I will probably have to do it again, but stay tuned.”
