FL Surgeon General: “Why Do We Trust DC Bureaucrats?”

TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – In response to an opinion article from the Wall Street Journal arguing that healthy children don’t need covid vaccines, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo questioned why Americans have a habit of trusting “DC bureaucrats” when it comes to medical advice.
The report by Allysia Finley explained that “vaccine efficacy against infection, meanwhile, turned negative during the Omicron surge… How can that be?”
In response, the newly confirmed Harvard scientist from Nigeria lamented medical experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci for leading the public on medical disinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic to support lockdowns and health mandates.
“My question: why do we trust DC bureaucrats after all of their ‘noble’ lies over the last 2 years?”
Ladapo recently announced that the Florida Department of Health is recommending against vaccinating young, healthy children for COVID-19, saying that, according to randomized medical trials, the risks of the vaccines likely outweigh the benefits in most children.
COVID-19 vaccines present a higher risk of heart inflammation in young Americans, specifically boys.
The fatality rate of those under 18 lies between 0.0023% and 0.0085%. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there were 66 deaths listed as COVID-19 among children 5 to 11 – the least vulnerable age group to the disease – between October 3, 2020 and October 2, 2021. This is the exact same number that died due to suicide.
In contrast, there were 969 deaths from unintentional injury in this age group and 207 from homicide in 2019.
The fatality rate for measles is between 0.1% and 0.3% among children, and polio paralyzes 1 in 200 children – the reason why childhood vaccinations are recommended. Additionally, the risk of hospitalization from the flu is 50% higher among children 5 to 11.
Ladapo and Governor Ron DeSantis have been taking victory laps for the past several months due to the “science changing” from leftist “doctors,” now aligning with Florida’s policies.
