FLORIDA (FLV) – After U.S. First Lady Jill Biden compared Texas Hispanics to “breakfast tacos” in San Antonio, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio changed his profile picture to a taco.

“#NewProfilePic,” the senator Tweeted late Monday.

Rubio is a Cuban American originally from Miami, Florida.

Biden said that Latino community as “unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio,” drawing criticism from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

“NAHJ encourages @FLOTUS & her communications team to take time to better understand the complexities of our people & communities,” they said.

“We are not tacos. Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by various diasporas, cultures & food traditions. Do not reduce us to stereotypes.”

They said that Biden demonstrated a “lack of cultural knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of Latinos in the region.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw mocked NAHJ’s use of the word ‘Latino,’ saying, “Latinos? Don’t you mean LatinX????,” referencing the ‘inclusive’ term for Hispanics.
