Ashley Moody praises Florida little league win against California
LIVERMORE, Calif. (FLV) – Keystone Little League from Tampa defeated Bollinger Canyon Little League from California 5-4, in the first round of the 2023 Intermediate Little League World Series.
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody expressed her support for the Florida Little League team beating California.
“Way to go, Keystone Little League from Tampa Bay,” she exclaimed. “Any day Florida beats California is a good day.”
Keystone fought back after being down by three runs in the 9th to pull off an upset in extra innings.
The division between Florida and California has been heightened over recent years as Gov. Ron DeSantis and Gov. Gavin Newsom have exchanged political attacks towards each other.
Newsom aired an advertisement in Florida during July 2022 that encouraged California residents to come back to the state by bashing DeSantis and the Florida GOP.
“Freedom, it’s under attack in your state,” he said. “Republican leaders, they’re banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors.”
DeSantis produced his own rivaling video that highlighted the “great American exodus” from Democrat-led states.
According to the National Association of Realtors, Florida was the number one state for net domestic migration at 318,855 new net residents. California was at the bottom of the list with a net migration of -343,230.
Keystone Little League, representing the state of Florida, comfortably beat South Carolina in the Little League Southeast Intermediate Regional championship 16-0.
The Tampa based team will play Tom Rivers East Little League from New Jersey on Monday. The winner of that game will move on to play either Taylor North Little League from Michigan or Pearl City Little League from Hawaii in round 3.
