TAMPA, Fla. – President Joe Biden visited Tampa on Tuesday for a campaign rally, primarily focusing on “reproductive” freedoms.

He claimed that former President Donald Trump was “making a deal” with “MAGA extremists” to ban abortion nationwide.

Biden also took the opportunity to attack Florida for instituting a six week abortion ban, as well as bash Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., who is running for reelection.

“Let’s be real clear, there’s one person responsible for this nightmare and he acknowledging-ly brags about it, Donald Trump,” Biden said. “In fact, Trump’s bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade

Biden argued that Trump ignored his moral commitment to the nation and sided with religious conservatives in order to get the support for overturning the Supreme Court decision.

“Don’t think he’s making a deal right now with MAGA extremists to ban, nationwide, abortion in every single state,” Biden said.

Trump has firmly expressed that he believes abortion should be left up to the states and that the federal government should not get involved in abortion or in restricting IVF.

“Many states will be different,” Trump said recently. “Many will have a different number of weeks, or some will have more conservative [policies] than others – and that’s what they will be. At the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people. You must follow your heart, or in many cases, your religion or your faith.”

Biden argued during his rally that it isn’t about the rights of states to make a decision on the issue of abortion, but instead about “women’s rights.”

“Next week, one of the nation’s most extreme anti-abortion laws will take effect here in Florida, criminalizing reproductive healthcare before women even know that they’re pregnant” Biden said.

“This extreme abortion law is going to impact four million women in the state of Florida,” he added.

Biden took a moment to point out Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Scott’s main general election challenger, in the crowd of supporters.

“Debbie’s running against Rick Scott, who wants to sunset Social Security,” he claimed. “I think the voters are going to sunset Rick Scott.”

The Republican Party of Florida was quick to highlight the strong Republican leadership and voter registration lead they have over Democrats once the news of the president’s arrival was official.

“Floridians top issues are immigration, the economy, and inflation, in all three areas Joe Biden has failed. Instead of coming to talk to Floridians about manufactured issues, he should get to work solving the real issues that he has failed to lead on,” Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power said. “We also welcome him to learn from the successes that has made Florida a beacon of freedom for the rest of the Country.”

They pointed to how the state is now home to “nearly 1 million more” registered Republicans than Democrats. As of April, the GOP’s lead approaches 900,000.

The RealClearPolling average has Trump beating Biden by 9 points in Florida, with some recent numbers showing a gap as big as 13 points.

The same goes for Florida’s U.S. Senate race, where Scott continues to hold a commanding lead over Mucarsel-Powell.
