TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign press secretary said the upcoming debate against California Gov. Gavin Newsom represents a contrast between Republicans’ “best chance” at victory in 2024 and a candidate whom the Democrats could nominate instead of President Joe Biden.

The “Red State vs Blue State” faceoff takes place on Thursday, Nov. 30.

“This is a debate for the future of our country,” said Bryan Griffin, press secretary for DeSantis’ campaign. “What kind of road do we want to go down? What kind of life do we want for our children? What kind of country do we want to live under?”

Griffin made the comments on Bill Mitchell’sYourVoice America.”

“Do we want to live under California which has had collapsed cities and just utter failure? Or do we want the success of Ron DeSantis’ Florida?” he continued. “He’s made it the freest state in the nation. He’s got all of these wins that he’s posted to the board for conservatives. He’s got the number one economy, safe cities. Number one in freedom and education, just on issue after issue.”

Griffin said DeSantis represents America’s “future.”

He also warned that Democrats might not nominate President Joe Biden for a second term.

“He also represents the best chance for us to defeat whoever the Democrats want to put up in 2024,” Griffin said. “And it might not be Joe Biden. It could be Gavin Newsom. So we better put [our] best foot forward. And that is Ron DeSantis.”

The DeSantis campaign has been promoting the debate, which will take place not long before the fourth Republican debate next month.
