TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday appointed Glen Gilzean as the Orange County Supervisor of Elections.

Former Supervisor Bill Cowles, a Democrat, retired in January.

Gilzean was selected by DeSantis to be the administrator of the district overseeing Walt Disney World as it transitioned from being formerly controlled by the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

DeSantis’ office said the appointment will place Gilzean into the role as counties across the state prepare for the November general election.

Gilzean was also previously the chairman of the Florida Commission on Ethics, along with being the president and CEO of the Central Florida Urban League.
