WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump endorsed Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott for reelection in 2024 Tuesday.

Trump made the announcement on his social media platform Truth Social.

“I am proud to give my Complete and Total Endorsement to U.S. Senator Rick Scott of Florida in his bid for Re-Election,” Trump said. “I have known Rick for a long time, as both a businessman and great Governor of FLORIDA, and there are few like him!”

“Strong on the Border, Crime, our Great Military/Vets, our Second Amendment, and the only person who has been willing to take on the very destructive Super RINO, Mitch McConnell,” he said. “Everyone in Florida should help Senator Rick Scott have a big win next year!”

The senator responded, saying he is “honored” to receive Trump’s support.

“Next year we’re going to retire @JoeBiden, elect a Republican Senate majority, and turn our country around,” Scott said.

The Florida senator would appear on the ballot along with Trump in November 2024, the former president being the most likely to win the GOP nomination with an overwhelming lead, according to polls.

Scott endorsed Trump for president in November and called for party unity in defeating President Joe Biden and Democrats next year.

“I know most of the candidates running for president, and I respect their decision to put themselves through this very difficult process,” Scott wrote. “Make no mistake: every single one of them would be a better president than Joe Biden.”

“But Republican voters are making their voices heard loud and clear. They want to return to the leadership of Donald Trump,” he wrote.

Scott told Florida’s Voice that he wants Trump back in office to reclaim a strong economy, global peace and safety, and the border security of the U.S.

“When he was president, we had a great economy. We don’t now,” Scott said on Florida’s Voice with Brendon Leslie. “When he was president, we weren’t at war. We’re at war now.”

“When he was president, our border was secure, right? Our border is not secure now,” the senator said. “We were in way better shape under President Trump, and I think voters around the country see that, and that’s why they’re supporting him, and that’s why I support him.”
