FORT MYERS (FCV) – Despite the Lee County District School Board voting to remove a hotly-embattled pro-LGBTQ agenda poster from its public schools, Gateway Elementary School has maintained its promotion of the poster for children.

Brendon Leslie, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of Florida’s Voice, was the first to expose the poster last year.

In a Facebook post, Gateway Elementary uploaded a photo of a young student congratulating them on their performance in the “investors fair.” However, on the information board behind the student, the embattled “gender expression” and rainbow-flag poster remains posted.

Most troubling to parents is the “RESTROOMS” section on the poster, which says that “All students are allowed to access the restrooms that are consistent with their gender identity or be provided appropriate accommodations as requested.” This means that biological males could be permitted in the girls’ restroom.

The poster teaches students in the elementary school – which runs from grade K-5 – about gender expression, sexual orientation, gender identity, “pride” of their sexual orientation and gender identity, and “identity,” topics that the new Parental Rights in Education Act, H.B. 1557, would prohibit when it comes into effect on July 1.

Parents protested the poster when it first came to public light, so much so that they pushed their board members to revoke the poster’s promotion in May 2021 after its heated embattlement last April.

“That’s a window for kids with bad heads … to say let’s go to the girls bathroom,” one parent said to WINK News. “And if we get caught, we can just say we feel like girls.”

Because the poster was removed by the Lee County School Board, the Elementary School’s continuation of the poster likely violates district policy.

We reached out to district officials about this and have yet to hear back.

Another image also shows the poster on the same information board on March 1, 2022.

The next Lee County School Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 12, at 6:00 P.M. EST.
