TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) sent letters to six companies demanding they provide documentation proving they are in compliance with the state’s E-Verify law.

The E-Verify law requires private employers to verify a person’s eligibility for employment after the acceptance of an offer of employment.

Six companies were alerted of their final opportunity to provide the documentation, following each company’s repeated failure to respond to the notices, according to DEO. Those companies include M.D.L. property Maintenance, American National Red Cross, Intelycare, Inc., Prestige Cruise Services, LLC., Upperline Health, Inc., ScribeAmerica, LLC., and Prestige Cruise Services, LLC.

The state required a signed affidavit that the company is following the law. The affidavit needs to state the following:

  1. The company has terminated the employment of all unauthorized aliens employed by the company in the state of Florida.
  2. The company will not intentionally or knowingly employ an unauthorized alien in the state of Florida.
  3. The company will fully comply with section 448.095(3)(b), Florida Statutes.

The affidavit should be provided within 30 days of receipt of the letter. The companies could be suspended of their licenses to operate in the state.

“At the governor’s direction, Florida is cracking down on the unlawful employment of unauthorized aliens in the state of Florida. Companies that have not affirmed that all employees have passed E-Verify and are authorized to work in the United States are given an opportunity to cure the issue and so affirm,” DeSantis Press Secretary Bryan Griffin said.

The below letter was sent to the American National Red Cross.
