Florida man sets himself on fire outside Trump’s NYC trial: authorities
NEW YORK – St. Augustine resident Max Azzarello lit himself on fire in front of former President Donald Trump’s New York City trial on Friday, according to local authorities.
Azzarello, born in 1987, arrived in New York “sometime earlier in the week,” New York City Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said.
His family members were purportedly unaware that he was even in New York.
Kenny said that Azzarello was at the Weil Cornell Medicine Burn Center receiving treatment.
The flammable accelerant he used reportedly contained a form of alcohol, most likely a substance used in cleaning products.
A LinkedIn profile matching his first and last name reported he is “self-employed” in St. Augustine from 2023 to the present.
In the bio description of the account, he writes that “We’ve got a secret fascism problem.” He further details in his account about theories surrounding billionaire Peter Theil.
