TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – The governor’s office announced Friday that Florida’s private sector sector grew five times faster compared to the nation as a whole.

The state’s job growth rate was 0.5% in July, which added 42,800 new jobs.

”For the last four years, Florida has led the nation with more than 2.5 million new businesses formations and over 1 million Floridians joining the workforce,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a press release.

“Florida’s success is the direct result of freedom first policies that support business owners and job seekers along with record investments in workforce education and infrastructure that spur economic growth.”

The office highlighted other economic achievements such as the state’s 2.7% unemployment rate, marking 33 consecutive months under the national rate of 3.5%.

Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly complimented the governor’s leadership by providing the “key foundations for the success” of both job seekers and job creators.

“This month’s economic data is further proof that freedom first policies – such as record investments in workforce education, modern infrastructure and workforce housing – are investments in opportunities for businesses and families alike,” he said.

Education and health services employment grew the most in July, adding 14,300 new jobs.

With 545,000 jobs posted online in Florida, the office is confident that the state continues to adequately provide for those seeking employment.

The office also encouraged job seekers to take advantage of resources such as CareerSource Florida and Employ Florida for help with resume writing, interview skills and career training.
