WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – High-profile Florida Republicans rallied behind former President Donald Trump as he faces another rally of charges from Special Counsel Jack Smith, now surrounding the 2020 election and Jan. 6, 2021.

The charges include four felony counts relating to attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

Christian Ziegler, the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, noted his disbelief that Trump will receive a “fair trial” in the heavy Democratic area of Washington, D.C.

“Is there anyone out there that actually believes President Trump will get a fair trial in Washington D.C.?” Ziegler asked.

“Maybe the indictment was done in D.C. because they have plenty of Jurors sitting around waiting for work… since theft, assaults, and car jackings aren’t being prosecuted,” he said. “But Trump… A Republican running for President?…. STOP EVERYTHING. ALLOCATE ALL RESOURCES.”

The chairman also pondered the timing of Trump’s indictments occurring directly after reports surface relating to controversial actions from President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

Rep. Byron Donalds, who endorsed Trump for president, reacted to the indictment by exclaiming, “STAND WITH TRUMP.”

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott was skeptical of the timing, similar to Ziegler.

“It seems like every time we learn more about Biden’s shady business dealings, his DOJ indicts President Trump,” he said.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, also strongly supportive of Trump’s electoral bid, said Smith and the indictment “will forever go down in history as a total disgrace to the United States of America.”

“President Trump defended our democracy, and we have an obligation to defend him against the Deep State’s crusade to destroy our movement,” Gaetz said.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who was most recently elected to Congress in 2022, called the indictment “total garbage.”

On being criminally pursued on multiple fronts despite seeking another term of the presidency, Trump recently said he’ll “never” drop out of the 2024 race.

“I’ll never leave,” he said. “Look, if I would have left, I would have left prior to the original race in 2016. That was a rough one. In theory that was not doable.”
