MIAMI (FLV) – “I am proud to support her,” said the former president of the Republican Party of Florida, Al Cárdenas, in favor of the candidacy of Democrat Annette Taddeo.

Taddeo seeks to represent South Florida in Congress for the 27th district and is facing off against Republican incumbent Maria Elvira Salazar. Cárdenas made some statements that were recorded on video and that were shared publicly.

“This is the first time in four decades that I am endorsing a Democrat for Congress in South Florida,” said Cárdenas.

Among the figures who support Taddeo are Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Kathy Castor, Charlie Crist, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Eric Swalwell, Ruben Gallego, Hakeem Jeffries, and Lois Frankel.

Despite being the former Republican Party’s Chair, Cárdenas has not always been in favor of all Republican and conservative figures.

“Tucker Carlson is a propaganda threat to our national security. Much like Tokyo Rose”, Cárdenas tweeted earlier this year.

“Another fine First Lady…” Cárdenas tweeted in reference to First Lady Jill Biden.

Well said by Ana Navarro my wife,” he said of his wife’s comments: “It is unconscionable. It is heartless. It is cruel. And I will tell you what it is not, it is not Christian!”

In condemnation of former president and Republican, Donald J. Trump, Cárdenas tweeted,  “Hungarian leadership are fascists. They support Putin & Trump family.”
