SARASOTA, Fla. (FLV) – Hundreds of school board members, candidates and grassroots education activists from all over the country are in Sarasota for the Learn Right Education Leaders Summit.

Hosted by the Leadership Institute and directed by Bridget Ziegler, the group will hear from a host of prominent conservative leaders who are leading the charge to protect children in the education system.

Organizers said the goal is to train new school board members, current candidates and community activists to fight the “radical indoctrination” happening in the education system.

With a sold out crowd of 300 people from 29 states, sessions throughout the weekend will focus on school board elections, effective activism, social emotional learning, school safety and gender ideology in education.

Top leaders speaking at the event include Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez, Republican candidate for president Vivek Ramaswamy and New College of Florida President Richard Corcoran.

New College is receiving a makeover following Gov. Ron DeSantis’ board of trustee appointments. The board recently voted to abolish diversity, equity and inclusion bureaucracies.

Other speakers include Moms for Liberty Co-Founder Tina Descovich, author Ryan Girdusky, “Billboard” Chris Elston, Ryan Petty, Dr. James Lindsay, and U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds.

The meeting comes on the heels of the Florida Board of Education voting to ban teachings on gender identity and sexual orientation through 12th grade Wednesday.

Florida lawmakers are moving forward with a bill to restrict teachings on gender identity and preferred pronoun use as well.
