FORT MYERS (FCV) – Wednesday, Lee Health reported that it has exhausted its supply of the most effective monoclonal antibody treatment for the Omicron variant of COVID-19, Sotrovimab, due to a “nationwide shortage.”

Lee Health is using the shortage as an opportunity to promote the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Due to a nationwide shortage, Lee Health has exhausted its supply of Sotrovimab … It is more important than ever to get vaccinated or get a booster shot so [as] to protect yourself against COVID-19 during the current Omicron surge,” they said.

As FCV has previously reported, New York is receiving double the quantity of monoclonals compared to Florida from the Biden Administration, despite Florida having a greater population.

Critics argue Lee Health should be blaming the Biden Administration directly for their exhaustion, not the vague concept of a “nationwide shortage.”

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo has requested that the Biden Administration stop artificially creating shortages for states like Florida in therapeutics.
