WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Florida Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio leaped to former President Donald Trump’s defense after a Fulton County grand jury unveiled new 2020 election-related indictments against him.

“The latest Trump indictment in Georgia was prematurely posted online, announced at a late-night press conference & cites an election night ‘victory speech’ as the first act of a conspiracy,” Rubio said.

“A 3rd world spectacle carried out by a local prosecutor with political ambitions that far exceed her professionalism,” he continued.

Trump has now been indicted for the fourth time since exiting office, with a Georgia grand jury accusing the former president of trying to overturn the 2020 election.

Trump was charged alongside 18 others with a total of 41 criminal counts, all of which involved racketeering, a charge meant for members of organized crime groups.

The case is taking place in Fulton County and was brought on by the area’s district attorney, Fani Willis.

The charges come from Trump’s phone call on Jan. 2, 2021 to Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s secretary of state responsible for overseeing the election, urging the state “find” the necessary votes for Trump’s narrow deficit to turn into a lead over President Joe Biden.

Biden ended up winning Georgia by a razor thin 11,779 votes.

At the time, Trump reiterated beliefs that voter fraud or malpractice was responsible for that gap.

Per the indictment, Trump faces 13 charges, including crimes such as racketeering, solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, conspiracy to commit forgery, conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, and more.

The others who were indicted include some well-known then-Trump associates, such as Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows and Sidney Powell.

The case goes beyond Georgia, accusing Giuliani and Meadows of advancing their conspiracy by calling Arizona, Pennsylvania and other state officials in a bid to overturn their respective election outcomes.

“So, the Witch Hunt continues!” Trump reacted early Tuesday morning. “19 people [indicted] tonight, including the former President of the United States, me, by an out of control and very corrupt District Attorney who campaigned and raised money on, ‘I will get Trump.’”

“And what about those Indictment Documents put out today, long before the Grand Jury even voted, and then quickly withdrawn? Sounds Rigged to me!” he continued. “Why didn’t they Indict 2.5 years ago Because they wanted to do it right in the middle of my political campaign. Witch Hunt!”

The Georgia case is Trump’s fourth since leaving office, building off of two cases out of Washington, D.C. surrounding the retention of classified documents and the Jan. 6, 2021 riots, along with a case out of New York by District Attorney Alvin Bragg surrounding alleged hush money payments to a porn star.

Trump was recently indicted by the Jan. 6, 2021 case, brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith in D.C.

“Every one of these many Fake Charges filed against me by the Corrupt Biden DOJ could have been filed 2.5 years ago, but they waited and waited until I became dominant in the Polls, and then they filed them all, including locals, right in the middle of my Campaign,” Trump said in a post. “They want anybody but ‘TRUMP.’ Not fair and perhaps, not legal. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!”

“Biden & Garland file bogus cases against me so it becomes difficult for me to campaign. Nothing like this has every happened before,” Trump said. “Must be Unconstitutional? BUT SOMEHOW, WE WILL WIN IT ALL!!!”

On theories that the slew of charges brought on in Democratic-leaning areas or by Democratic officials are simply efforts to disqualify Trump from running for president 2024, as he remains the perceived GOP primary frontrunner, the former president previously declared, “I’ll never leave.
