FORT MYERS, Fla. – U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., will join federal and state lawmakers on Thursday, April 25 for a property insurance crisis hearing in Fort Myers.

Gaetz will be joined by Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz of the 23rd District, as well as state Sens. Erin Grall, R-Fort Pierce, and Jonathan Martin, R-Fort Myers.

The goal of the meeting is to address the rising costs of property insurance in the state by listening to witnesses, consisting of property owners and experts.

The event will take place at the Lee County Public Education Center School District Board Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET.

The event will be live-streamed on Gaetz’s social media platforms.

Sen. Jim Boyd, R-Bradenton, spoke on the successes of the legislature in regards to addressing property insurance, during an interview on Florida’s Voice with Brendon Leslie.

“The property insurance reform, coupled with tort reform, is going to make a massive difference in homeowners’ premium costs over the foreseeable future,” Boyd said.

“The reality is is that most people haven’t seen it in their rate reductions, or most of it, because it takes a year and a half to 18 months for those changes to filter through the rate making process,” he added.
