TAMPA, Fla. – A new law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis will limit book challenges for non-parents.

During a press conference, DeSantis explained that although the state has made significant strides in allowing for parental rights at school board meetings, some people are taking advantage of the opportunity to challenge books and instead making a “mockery” of the law.

Rep. Jennifer Canady, R-Lakeland, and Sen. Danny Burgess, R-Zephyrhills sponsored the legislation that ultimately limits individuals who do not have children in a school district to one book objection per month.
