PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The Pinellas County Republican Party have steadily increased their voter registration numbers since the November midterm elections in 2022, leaving the county’s Democratic Party 25,000 voters behind.

Currently, the GOP has 230,556 active registered voters in the county, while the Democrats hold 205,457.

This compares to when the Republicans had only 10,000 more voters in the midterm elections.

Rep. Berny Jacques, R-Clearwater, expressed his support for the increased separation in registration numbers through a statement to Florida’s Voice.

“One of the reasons why people in Pinellas are flocking to the Republican Party is because of our bold conservative policies out of Tallahassee that upholds law and order, bans woke indoctrination, and supports a strong economy,” he said.

“I will continue my work with our Governor and party leaders to keep Pinellas in the red column,” Jacques said.

The Republican Party of Florida has been growing their numbers of registered voters for a consistent period of time statewide.

In August, it was reported that Republicans had 568,000 more voters than the Democrats did in the state.

This has also lead to multiple counties flipping to majority-Republican in 2023.

Recently, Jefferson County witnessed the transition to a Republican community, even as the Florida Democratic Party has increasingly pushed for their own voter registration efforts.

Democrats began the “Take Back Florida” tour at the beginning of August, with the goal to win back seats in the legislature and state-wide offices.
