MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. (FLV) – Port Canaveral Commissioners Wayne Justice and Tom Weinberg endorsed Rep. Randy Fine, R-Melbourne Beach, for Florida’s Senate District 19 seat in the 2024 election.

Fine has served in the Florida House since 2016. He is running for the District 19 seat in Brevard County, which is currently held by Debbie Mayfield, who cannot run due to term limits.

The state lawmaker has been previously endorsed by Brevard School Board Chairman Matt Susin, and school board members Megan Wright and Gene Trent.

Fine has also received endorsements from Reps. Thad Altman, R-Indialantic, Chase Tramont, R-Port Orange, and Webster Barnaby, R-Deltona, as well as Former Republican Party of Florida Chairman and Senator Joe Gruters, and former Senate President Mike Haridopolos.

Three people have filed to run for the seat, including Democrat Vance Ahrens and Republican Robyn Hattaway.

”I spent nine of my 33 year career in command of Coast Guard units, and I know strong
leadership and what it takes to complete missions. When it comes to leading our county and
advocating for our Port in the State Senate, I can think of no one better than Randy Fine,” Justice said.

Justice served on the Port Commission since 2014 and is former chairman of the commission.

He said Fine’s record of getting things done for our country is “unmatched,” and he has “seen it in action at the Port.”

Weinberg said it is an “honor” to endorse Fine. Weinberg served on the Port Commission from 2010 to 2018 and served as chairman three separate times.

“As a Brevard County native with considerable experience with state, local, and federal government and as a former two-term and three-time Port Commission Chairman it is clear to me that Randy Fine is the right man at the right time to be the State Senator representing Brevard County and Port Canaveral,” Weinberg said.

Weinberg said Fine is “not only pro- business, he is an actual businessman, and has taken the energy that made him successful in the private sector to pass multiple bills and bring home millions of dollars to help save the Indian River Lagoon and our environment.”

“I have been incredibly proud to work with Rear Admiral Justice and Port Commissioner Weinberg during my time in the Florida House,” Fine said.

“Both of these men have given their lives to public service, and it is deeply humbling that given their experience improving our Port, they believe I am the right person to take that work to the next level in the Florida Senate,” Fine said.

The International Union of Police Associations and Florida Family Action have also endorsed Fine.

Between Fine’s campaign account and political committee, Friends of Randy Fine, he has raised
almost $1 million for his Senate run, according to a press release.
