MIAMI (FLV) – Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., slammed the Biden administration for its “spectacle” in the courts by indicting former President Donald Trump, while China “is laser focused on preparing for conflict with America.”

“China is all over the world undermining us, and we’re fighting with each other about stuff like this – that should never have been brought,” Rubio said, referring to the 37 count federal indictment levied against Trump.

The case is surrounding Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents, and includes a violation of the Espionage Act.

“I just think this is a sad and terrible day,” he said on the day of Trump’s arraignment in Miami. “I know there’s people in the press that are giddy about it.”

“Democrats and partisans that are giddy about it – but this is really bad for America, this indictment,” Rubio continued.

“It was a bad decision to bring it. I don’t think it was justified or merited and we’re going to pay a terrible price for it.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping has been eyeing the overtaking of Taiwan in recent months and years. He recently said he is preparing for war.

Trump pled not guilty to all charges Tuesday at the Miami courthouse.

After the arraignment, the former president traveled to Bedminster, New Jersey to address supporters.

There, he vowed retribution and promised to appoint a special prosecutor to go after President Joe Biden and the “Biden crime family.”

Trump said “the seal is now broken.”

“This was an unwritten rule,” he said. “You just don’t, unless it’s really bad, but you just don’t.”

“I will appoint a real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of the United States of America, Joe Biden, and the entire Biden crime family… name a special prosecutor, and all others involved with the destruction of our elections, our borders and our country itself,” Trump said.

“I will totally obliterate the deep state,” he continued. “We will obliterate the start and we know who they are. I know exactly who they are. They want to take away my freedom because I will never let them take away your freedom.”

Trump’s indictment drew near universal condemnation from a variety of Republican lawmakers and conservative commentators, ranging from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., denounced the case on Tuesday, noting that Cuban and other migrants in Miami “know a thing or two about dangerous government overreach.”

Rubio previously spoke out about the indictment.

“The DOJ is seeking to jail FOR LIFE not just a former President but the leading opponent of the current President in the 2024 election,” he said. “The damage this is already inflicting on our country far outweighs the damage (if any) from what they allege in the indictment.”

Trump’s legal troubles have continued to mount in recent months. In April, Trump was indicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat.
