WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump’s campaign launched a blistering television ad lambasting President Joe Biden’s handling of the southern border.

The dramatic 30-second spot led with an explosion referencing the world burning over the president’s border security policies.

“Joe Biden has created a violent threat in our own backyard,” the ad said. “Biden’s open border has opened the floodgates to record numbers, including terrorists, fentanyl traffickers, and raises the possibility of a Hamas attack.”

Last week, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Protection encountered 12,600 migrants at the southern border, a new single day record. Typically a slow time for migration, the winter months have approximately brought 10,000 migrants a day to the border.

Furthermore, migration peaked over fiscal year 2023 with 2.4 million encounters. Department of Homeland Security officials reportedly also speculated 670,000 “gotaways” occurred over the same period.

“President Trump had our border secured, and he’ll do it again by building even more walls and stop people from terrorist countries from every entering,” the ad said.

In November, agents encountered 17 individuals on the FBI’s terror watch list, according to CBP data. 30 people have been caught on the watch list since the fiscal year began in October.

Under Biden, more than 7 million migrants have attempted to cross the southern border. An additional 1.7 million “gotaways” were reported as of December, according to Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.

For perspective, under Biden, illegal crossings have amounted to the population of Virginia.
