WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump continues to lead President Joe Biden by a narrow margin nationally, current polling data suggests.

Trump, who recently hit an all-time high level of national support, leads Biden narrowly as of late-September by half-a-point.

The current polling average, as aggregated by RealClearPolitics, includes national polls back to Aug. 24, with Trump resting at 45.1% and Biden at 44.6%.

The former president peaked at around 45.6%.

Since this cycle’s poll tracking began, Trump previously peaked at 45.4% support.

For the GOP primary field, Trump has spiked as well, now nearly a national average of almost 60%. His closest competitor, Gov. Ron DeSantis, has decreased to around 13% nationally.

Notably, poll tracking has shown Trump spiked in support from late-August, jumping from around 43% support to nearly 46% in just under a month. For the same time period, Biden has remained stable.

The spike began just around Aug. 25, the time when Trump had his historic mugshot taken in a Georgia criminal case against him.

Trump’s mug shot came out of Fulton County, where he faces 13 criminal charges relating to allegations of trying to overturn the 2020 election.

Those charges include conspiracies to commit false statements, file false documents, commit forgery and to impersonate a public officer, along with making false statements and writings, filing false documents, soliciting the violation of oath by a public officer, and violating Georgia racketeering law.

Trump’s Georgia arraignment involves his fourth indictment since leaving office.

The other indictments include two investigations from Washington, D.C. Special Counsel Jack Smith surrounding classified documents and the events of Jan. 6, 2021, along with charges from New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg surrounding alleged hush money payments to a porn star.
