WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (FLV) – Former President Donald Trump intensified his attacks on prosecutor Jack Smith following the leak of an audio tape which featured Trump discussing a classified document he retained post-presidency.

The audio recording, mentioned in Smith’s indictment but only publicly revealed by CNN on Monday, purportedly captures dialogue between Trump and a writer at his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey in July 2021.

The recorded conversation was included in Smith’s 37-count indictment against the former president, focusing on Trump’s handling of classified materials.

In the recorded conversation, Trump can be heard discussing a purported Pentagon document outlining plans for an attack on Iran.

He also acknowledges the document’s sensitive nature, referring to it as “highly confidential” and “secret information.”

“See, as president I could have declassified it,” Trump said in the recording. “Now I can’t.”

Trump also called Smith “deranged” in a TRUTH Social post late Monday night.

“The Deranged Special Prosecutor, Jack Smith, working in conjunction with the DOJ & FBI, illegally leaked and ‘spun’ a tape and transcript of me which is actually an exoneration, rather than what they would have you believe,” Trump said in the post. “This continuing Witch Hunt is another ELECTION INTERFERENCE Scam. They are cheaters and thugs!”
