WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former President Donald Trump blasted the Biden administration after Hamas’ surprise attacks on Israel over the weekend.

“These Hamas attacks are a disgrace and Israel has every right to defend itself with overwhelming force,” Trump said in a statement after the initial attack Saturday. “Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration.”

Hamas, a terrorist organization, attacked Israel from the Gaza Strip, killing hundreds of Israelis and capturing dozens of hostages in the deadliest attack on the nation in 50 years.

Under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli forces retaliated by killing hundreds of Gaza inhabitants as fighting spilled into the night.

Netanyahu vowed “might vengeance for this wicked day” nearly 50 years after the country’s Yom Kippur War.

“Hamas launched a cruel and wicked war. We will win this war but the price is too heavy to bear,” Netanyahu said. “Hamas wants to murder us all. This is an enemy that murders mothers and children in their homes, in their beds. An enemy that abducts elderly, children, teenage girls.”

Turmoil in the region comes more than three years after Israel signed the Abraham Accords, an agreement poised to bring stability to the Middle East. Brokered by the Trump administration, the treaty established peace between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

“We brought so much peace through the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible,” Trump said following Saturday’s attack.

Trump also piled on the current administration for their own relations in the Middle East, including past dealings with Iran at a caucus event in Iowa.

“The war happened for two reasons, the United States is giving and gave Iran six billion dollars, six billion over hostages and there was a very good trade. They got five hostages, we got five hostages. In addition to that, we agreed to free up six billion dollars. That is an absolute disaster,” Trump said in a video that was posted to social media Saturday.

The Republican presidential frontrunner further suggested Hamas’ financial capabilities may have come through the deal.

“I would not be at all surprised if part of that tremendous wealth that they just accumulated went into all of a sudden watching this level of aggression,” Trump continued. “They didn’t have that level of aggression with me, they didn’t have it. This would never would have happened with me either.”

Following the attacks, President Joe Biden pledged his support to Netanyahu on behalf of the United States.

“The [United States] stands with the people of Israel in the face of these terrorist assaults. Israel has the right to defend itself and its people, full stop,” Biden said. “There’s never a justification for terrorist attacks and my administration’s support for Israeli’s security is rock solid and unwavering.’’
