WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., expressed a willingness to serve as former President Donald Trump’s vice president if offered the job, according to an exclusive from Breitbart.

Asked by Breitbart whether or not he would accept the role, Donalds said “of course.”

“If it came up? Oh yeah, of course, because you have the opportunity to do really powerful things for the country and really help shape the country,” Donalds said. “But I’m a member of Congress. I just do my job. I let everybody else speculate on the other stuff.”

Donalds has long supported Trump and endorsed the former president’s election bid in early April.

There is also significant support among other congressional Republicans for a Donalds-vice president pick.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., tweeted in late May, asking his followers to “Retweet this if you think my friend [Byron Donalds] would make a great choice for Vice President.”

Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., told Breitbart that he sees his Florida colleague as “someone who would really be a nice balance for President Trump.”

Trump and Donalds recently appeared together in Philadelphia as Trump continues to lead national polls in the Republican primary.

The two men were spotted at a cheesesteak restaurant among a massive crowd of the former president’s supporters.

In April, Trump made an appearance in Donalds’ district alongside the congressman at a local pizza restaurant.

Trump is set to participate in a town hall style interview in Iowa, hosted by Fox News anchor Sean Hannity on July 18.
