Casey DeSantis kicks off ‘Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive’ to help families in need

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis kicked off the “Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive” on Monday, which the governor’s office said will help families in need during the festive season.

It will run from Nov. 13 to Dec. 15.

The toy drive can be viewed here. On the website, users can purchase toys to be donated to Hope Florida and then distributed to people in need in December.

“There is no greater joy at this time of year than making magic happen for a child,” DeSantis said. “Throughout the year, our Hope Navigators work to ensure that families are working towards self-sufficiency, and many along this journey may not be able to afford extras like holiday presents.”

“Through the Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive, families will experience the goodwill of their neighbors and communities and create special memories for their children,” she said. “We know parents want the best for their children, and through this initiative, can bring a little more hope to Florida’s families.”

Per the governor’s office, Hope Florida is partnering with the Children and Youth Cabinet.

“Every day, our Department works to support strong and resilient families who are working on their individual goals to economic independence,” said Shevaun Harris, Department of Children and Families secretary.

“The holidays are a special time for families to focus on each other and on the joy of giving,” said Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida’s surgeon general and chairman of the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet.
